The Iowa Tribal Police Department has been serving the residents of the Iowa Reservation and the surrounding communities, as well as our Casino customers, since it’s inception in May of 1996. The Police Department was started with a Federal Grant through the Department of Justice in 1996. Since then, we have provided 24 hour Police coverage for the past 20 years.
At the present time, the Iowa Tribal Police Department consists of 6 full-time and 2 part-time officers, which includes the Chief of Police and the Administrative Assistant. The Police Department also has its own K-9 drug unit. Since our Reservation lies in both the States of Kansas and Nebraska, our Police Officers are certified in both Kansas and Nebraska.
For Reservation residents and surrounding member’s, there are a few services that I would like you to be aware of: Farm Security checks and Residential Security checks. These checks are provided by our department at your request. If you have farm equipment or machinery that you have left in the fields here around the Reservation area, we will go by and check on things for you at night and when you are not around. The same for Residential Security checks, if you are going on vacation or will be away from your residence for an extended period of time, let us know. We will periodically check on your residence daily until you arrive home. If you request one of these checks, simply print off the Residential Security check form or the Farm check form and fill it out and either mail it or drop it off at the Police Department. The department also does vehicle unlocks (if you have accidentally locked your keys in your vehicle), and vehicle jump starts (if you find that your vehicle will not start). Simply, give us a call at the office between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and after hours at 742-7125 (Brown County Sheriffs Office) and we will be dispatched to your location.
The Iowa Tribal Police Department takes pride in our services to you. If you need anything or have any questions feel free to contact us at the above numbers or you can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
