Iowa tribe of kansas and nebraska

Generator Loan

Generator Loan

The purpose of this policy is to fairly distribute generators to households on the reservation that may experience extended periods of power outages due to weather, scheduled maintenance, etc. An extended period of a power outage is determined to be 5 hours or more. A member of the Executive Committee will be designated to call the electric company to find out an approximate duration that residents will be without power.

The Tribe has approximately 30 generators that may be used on loan. The Tribe has determined three categories of households that will have priority to the generators. First priority will be households with individuals with medical conditions that require electricity to treat (i.e. oxygen, breathing machines, etc.). Second priority will be households with seniors 55 years old or older. Third priority will be households with children 5 years old or younger. If there are generators left, after these households are served, generators will be given on loan on a first come, first serve basis.

Generators will be filled with gas when delivered and households are required to return it full as well. Borrower will be responsible for hooking up the generator. If you do not have the proper plugin, you won’t’ be able to use the generator. Also, please be advised that the generators are not big enough to power an entire house.

In the event that households experience an extended period of a power outage, they will contact Tony Fee at 402-801-1828 or 785-595-3520. Tony will contact the appropriate individuals to assist with the distribution of the generators. Residents must call to secure a generator. If you fall into one of the three priority categories and would like to permanently reserve a generator for future power outages, please contact Tony Fee at the numbers above.
