About Us

Cina Akidąwe—meaning “we take care of our own”—is the Social Services Department of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. Our mission is to engage, educate, and empower our people towards a healthier and more secure future. We are dedicated to "Caring For One's Community," and our passionate team is here to support you and provide the best services possible.

Our Mission

To serve the Báxoje community with integrity and cultural respect by providing comprehensive, trauma-informed, and empowering social services. Our goal is to help every Tribal member thrive—from youth and elders to families and individuals.

Cina Akidąwe is guided by a compassionate team devoted to protecting, supporting, and uplifting the Ioway community. Each staff member brings unique expertise and a shared commitment to care rooted in culture and dignity.

Title: Director of Social Services–Cina Akidąwe
Bio: Licensed Masters Level Psychologist. Oversees all programs and services provided through Cina Akidąwe, ensuring care is holistic, safe, and rooted in tribal values.

In 1854, the Kansas-Nebraska Act created our territories, drawing a line across the Iowa Reservation, which made us the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.
