Celebrating the Life of Bill Jensen

William “Bill” Jensen, 59, of Hiawatha, KS, formerly of White Cloud, KS, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Amberwell Health Center Hiawatha.

 

He was born at Hiawatha Community Hospital, May 19, 1964, the son of Arnold and Regina “Jean” Rhodd Jensen and had lived in Doniphan and Brown Counties all of his life.  ‘Candy Man’ one of his favorite nicknames attended Hiawatha schools before transferring to Highland High School/Doniphan West where he graduated. Candy Man attended Highland Junior College for a  year prior to North Central Kansas Technical School.  He worked for the Iowa Tribe for several years, and attended CDL education and certification, along with heavy equipment education and certification.  He also worked for Casino White Cloud, Sac & Fox Casino, Golden Eagle Casino, Grandview Oil Co., and Waggoner Water Conditioning.

 

Bill was an enrolled member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska where he served on the enrollment, election, and constitution boards through the years.  His many hobbies included recycling, beading, crafts, visiting and was well known for playing Santa.

 

Candy Man was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother James D. Jensen, brothers: Bobby Ray Roberts and Frank Roberts.

 

Survivors include brother Henry “Hank” Roberts of Falls City, NE, a sister Judy Curtis of Kansas City, KS, half-brother Arnold Jensen, Jr. with nieces, nephews and many native brothers and sisters.

 

His visits and laughter will be sorely missed by all.  We love you Dollar Bill!

 

The family will meet with friends starting at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, at the George Ogden Building on the Iowa Reservation near White Cloud, with services to follow at 11 a.m.

 

Memorial contributions are suggested for a cemetery stone for Bill sent in care of Chapel Oaks, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.
