ITKN Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska (ITKN) has released the draft Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for public review and feedback. 
This plan outlines strategies to reduce risks from natural hazards such as flooding, extreme weather, and wildfires, ensuring the safety and resilience of the community. 
Tribal members, residents, and stakeholders are encouraged to review the HMP draft (PDF available below) and provide comments using the comment box on this page. 
The public comment period is open for two weeks (ends 3/24/2025).

    History
    In 1854, the Kansas-Nebraska Act created our territories, drawing a line across the Iowa Reservation, which made us the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.

    Government
    The tribe is governed by two bodies, The General Council and The Executive Comittee. Organized under a constitution and bylaws approved in 1937.

    The Iowa Tribe has 14 Services & Programs. Including Education, Assitance, Senior Citizen Program, Health, etc.
