The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska in White Cloud, Kansas, is currently accepting applications for a full-time Museum Director/Historian for the Iowa and Sac & Fox Mission Museum in Highland, KS.
Qualifications/Experience: B.A. or B.S. degree in history, museum studies, allied fields; graduate degree M.A. or M.S. preference. Communication/education experience. Knowledge of Iowa and Sac & Fox history and culture; knowledge of local history. Evidence of highly developed communications, presentation, and writing skills, and organizational skills.
Duties: Management and operation of Mission museum and museum grounds. Budgets and development of grants and other funding sources. Develop partnerships. Work with interns and volunteers. Historic preservation and agencies interactions. Social media. Regular opening hours to be determined but will include at least one day on weekeneds.
Established connections with Highland and reservation communities. Organized and with initiative. Work with federal and state agencies experience. Knowledge of Iowa and Sac & Fox history. No relocation expenses or bonuses. Starting date negotiable; required opening by Memorial Day.
This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
